Met on arrival by a knowledgeable Luxury Driver guide and you will transfer to Arusha Safari Lodge. Overnight at Tulia Boutique and Spa: Bed and Breakfast.
Today we will drive you to Tarangire National Park, for excellent game viewing. Tarangire is a small park which offers some excellent sights. Generally in the dry seasons Tarangire comes alive as wildlife and bird life congregate on the Tarangire River, which is a permanent source of water. You will spend the night in our lodge beautifully set inside the park with stunning views and a unique atmosphere. In the late afternoon we make a short journey from the park to our special lodge. Dinner and overnight at Eileen's trees inn: Full board.
After breakfast, descend into the crater for a full day of game viewing. A picnic lunch will be taken on the crater floor. The crater supports up to 25,000 large mammals. Grazers dominate: zebra, wildebeest – accounting for almost half the animals – gazelle, buffalo, eland, hartebeest and warthog. Giraffes, for example, stay away because there is insufficient food at tree level; topi because they compete directly with wildebeest. An odd feature of the crater elephants is that they are almost exclusively bulls. Breeding herds – comprising large numbers of females and young with a few attendant older males – are probably unable to find sufficient quality food in the crater. Ngorongoro has carnivores in quantity, drawn by the large herds of prey animals. It has the most dense population of large predators, mainly lions – about 100 – and more than 400 spotted hyenas, living in eight clans of up to eighty individuals. Both lions and hyenas will scavenge from each other, depending on weight of numbers and of course, hunger. Dinner and overnight at Marera valley lodge: Full board.
The views are spectacular with the active volcano Oldoinyo Lengai dominating the foreground. This volcano affects almost everything from hydrology to lifestyle, as will become apparent. Once down on the rift valley floor we proceed Lake Natron Campsite and here have the chance to jump in the natural pools to cool down we will also do the activities here like hike to the beautiful waterfall and lake shore walk where it’s the only breeding point for lesser flamingos in East Africa. We journey from the wide open plains to the kopjes: these volcanic rocky outcrops provide protection and shelter for a wide variety of animals and from the top we can look out across the vast grasslands of the Serengeti. This diverse and interesting landscape will provide us with the ultimate in game viewing, we will hopefully see all of the plain games; elephants, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, lions and it you are lucky the elusive leopard and cheetah, as well as huge amounts of interesting bird life, from the elegant secretary birds to the flightless ostrich. You will depart your lodge for Lake Eyasi. Dinner and overnight at Lake Eyasi safari lodge: Full board
You will spend half of the day with Hadzabe and Datoga. The Hadzabe Tribe live in the dry terrain near Lake Eyasi, south of Ngorongoro crater in Tanzania. They have existed in this region for over 3000 years. The Hadzabe people are nomads and thus don’t live in the same place for long. They only set up camp for several days or even months and then when they have harvested the resources of their current location, they move to another area. Their moves are normally influenced by climate changes and the availability of wild fruits and vegetation for their animals. They build homes by weaving small huts out of sticks from the euphorbia bush. The Hadzabe use bows, arrows and spears to hunt for food. They eat roots, meat, wild fruits and use alternative medicine to treat their illnesses. They utilize sticks and grass to start fires. Their unique lifestyle makes a stay with them an interesting and stimulating experience then later in the afternoon transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your evening flight back home.
